Perodua names Aminar Rashid as new MD

Aminar Rashid SallehKUALA LUMPUR: Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) yesterday announced the appointment of Aminar Rashid Salleh (pic) as managing director effective Nov 16.

He will replace Datuk Syed Abdull Hafiz Syed Abu Bakar, who is not seeking to renew his contract which expires on Dec 31, the carmaker said in a statement.

Aminar Rashid is currently executive director and head of the strategic marketing group at UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of UMW which is a major shareholder of Perodua with 38% stake.

He has served UMW Toyota since 1992 in various capacities, benefiting from the job rotation system practised by the company.

Aminar Rashid holds a degree in civil engineering from Universiti Technologi Mara and also has an executive diploma in business administration from the University of Central Lancashire, Britain. — Bernama
